Palm Bay, FL

Palm Bay is unusual in how uniform it is. The city filled in largely through the 1980s, on shell-pad foundations, in a relatively narrow window of construction practice. That means a lot of houses here share the same attic, and the same shortfall.

Those attics were insulated to a standard well below what Florida asks for today. They have then had forty Florida summers to settle. It is the single most consistent finding we have anywhere in the county, and it is the reason the August power bill in Palm Bay behaves the way it does.
